Dr Tomoyuki Takabatake

Dr. Tomoyuki Takabatake is an assistant professor at the Research Institute of Sustainable Future Society, Waseda University, Japan. His primary areas of expertise are coastal engineering, coastal disaster and disaster management. In particular, he has been developing and applying an agent-based tsunami evacuation simulation model to enhance resilience of coastal communities towards tsunami hazard. He is the winner of several research awards, including the 2018 Best Paper Award for Young Researcher of JSCE. He also has several years’ experience of working as a coastal and hydraulic engineer at Taisei Corporation, which is one of the biggest construction companies in Japan.
